Servers are located in Asheville NC. I think the most notable change is that for all VPS hosting plans they now come with 10 fricking terabytes per month of data transfer. My first server, an old Linux box set up at home connecting to the Internet via 33.6k dial up modem, served average 200MB/month. Okay that’s more than a decade ago, but how have we advanced that a humble low end Xen box comes with 10TB of data.
Overselling?! I heard ya! But like all service based industry overselling should be taken for granted. 128MB is probably good to run a blog or two using 25GB/month, unless you also self-host video or large images. Not too sure what the application will be other than sharing of you-know-what. In fact, doing 10TB/month means 3.86MB/sec (or 30.9Mbps) — I wonder whether hard drives on a VPS host can sustain this kind of read if you are doing lots of file sharing.
Anyway. Here is a question throwing back to the community — what would you do with 10TB/month? Rule is “must be legal”

Paul from Webangel.ie wrote to me again regarding to their plan changes. Their “micro” Xen VPS package is now half-priced, dropped to €9/6 months (USD$1.90/month). The spec has also been slightly altered, and now you get

- 50GB/month data transfer

Servers are in Germany. It is now one of the cheapest VPS package around — probably the cheapest Xen provider around?! I noted that under the list of Linux distributions available, NetBSD was listed. Although it probably shouldn’t qualify as a Linux distro, but now we have a very low cost xBSD provider.

Servers are can be host in 4 location,including UK,CA,US,DE. Interestingly it uses KSplice which allows admins to update and patch Linux kernel without rebooting — sometihng hosting providers ought to consider to maximise the uptime (although at a cost).

VPSEU is an UK company that has its domain registered in December 2009 (with privacy protection, argh!) and has its servers in Frankfurt Germany (which I guess where “EU” in its domain name came from). €8.57/month (USD $10.93).

Good that Xen or OpenVZ of the same spec are at the same price.

Servers are with Limestone Networks in Dallas TX. UK based business. Domain has been registered for nearly two years, but its associated hosting sites (OpenSourceHostingSolutions, SiteRollout, etc) have been registered for a lot longer so I guess it’s more established.
Linux OpenVZ VPS
