CityNetHost – $24/Year 256MB Xen VPS in Egypt

Via this WHT offer. CityNetHost looks like the hosting arm of CityNet Telcom in Egypt, so it’s more likely to have telcom/network infrastructure in place. It is currently offering an Xen VPS special at $24/year, which comes with

  • 256MB memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • Xen

Servers are in Egypt so it might be a very good location for some of us here (not me though, almost 400ms ping). It looks like they have just branched into selling VPS as the ordering pages are still very dedicated-server-centric. I wonder whether you can really buy a $2/month VPS and hook it up with a 320GB SATA drive at $10/month extra, as it is available in the option.

Having the entire telcom company’s 2 name servers on the same network is indeed a bit strange though.

eNS Cloud – $5.99 256MB VMWare VPS

Via this WHT offer. eNetSouth Cloud is currently having July special of their VMWare ESX4-powered Cloud VPS. The cheapest package costs $5.99/month and comes with

  • 256MB memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • VMWare — any operating system

Servers are in Chincago with DFT CH1. Seems to be quite cheap if you are looking at a VMWare-based solution. Unfortunately I am unable to find any review about this company.

FullRoot – $3.99 OpenVZ VPS with 256MB

Saw it linked from somewhere. FullRoot‘s ZERO Starter VPS package is on limited-time special. At $3.99/month it gives you

  • 256MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

The testing IP reveals that the servers are with HostNOC/BurstNET in Scranton, although it is not a reseller of BurstNET’s own VPS packages. Domain has been registered since Jan 2008, and on the about us page it says it is part of CENVO — a hosting company registered in India that has been around for a while.

PingVPS – OpenVZ VPS in France Starting from £1.07

Via this WHT offer. PingVPS, who has been in business since 2002 according to their about us page, is offering 20% off recurring discount to their “Customisable VPS plans”, which you start with something very basic and gradually builds your box up. The basic configuration, after promo code JULYCUST20 is applied (using this ordering link), is just 1.06 GBP (~USD$1.59), and you get

  • 64MB guaranteed/128MB burstable memory
  • 5GB storage
  • 10GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Although it’s an UK company, the servers are in Roubaix, France. Domain less than a year old though with both NS on the same network (probably the same box). Even it’s also-known-as outfit Cooca.net is showing under-construction page. Well, pretty cheap price though for your next name server/backup MX in Frace :)

K-Disk – $3.99 128MB OpenVZ VPS

Via this WHT offer. K-Disk has released a “WHT exclusive” offer (well, sorry not any more :) of micro-sized VPS at $3.99/month. Using this ordering link you can get a VPS with the following spec

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 5GB storage
  • 50GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers are in New York with Turnkey Internet. Looks like the price is going to go up to $6.99 if sold out. Interestingly the package looks quite different from other Linux VPS packages from K-Disk, which are vePortal based. Company itself has been around since 2007.

K-Disk is founded in 2007

Cohoster – $6.40 128MB VMWare VPS in Netherlands

Via this WHT offer. Cohoster is a Netherlands based company, whose domain was just registered 2 months ago. They indeed have a simple web site, but they are also offering VMWare based virtual server hosting, which has been rare. They are offering WHT members 20% discount using promo code WHT20OFF. Their Netherlands based VPS is now $6.40/month and comes with

  • 128MB memory
  • 5GB storage
  • 50GB/month data transfer
  • VMWare/ESX

One thing about VMWare solution is that it’s hardware emulation thus you can load up non-Linux operating systems such as FreeBSD or Windows. They are also offering US based ESX hosting for $4/month with the same promo code but at an unknown location.

Diverse Web – £2.50 128MB VMWare Server

Via this offer on WHT. Diverse Web is a UK based private hosting company. Their home page says “in the hosting industry since 2006″, although their domain was only registered early this month (by an UK Individual), and on the WHT thread it says “We are now into our second month providing solutions”. They do have some VMWare VPS ready for pre-order though. For 2.50 GBP/month (~USD$3.62) you will get the “VPS Mini” with the following spec

  • 128MB memory
  • 5GB storage
  • 50GB/month data transfer

From the IP posted on WHT it appears that their servers are with SingleHop in Chicago IL. Now, these are pre-order packages and the VPS won’t be set up until 2nd of June. Last time someone tried to sell pre-ordered VPS packages it did not turn out to be that well. Not saying the provider is dodgy, but since the discount does not apply to VPS Mini you might want to wait until then if you really want to give a VMWare VPS a test drive.

DamnVPS – $5.95 512MB OpenVZ VPS

I have been a follower of Rus’ Twitter feed for a while, and have recently learnt that he has quit VAServ and started another VPS hosting company — DamnVPS. Yeah you thought something like FsckVPS was slightly inappropriately named, this one is not any better. It has just announced the opening offer on their blog, and for $5.95/month you can get the following system

  • 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 15GB storage
  • 1TB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ

These apply to only US-based OpenVZ plans, and you can choose between Los Angeles (West Coast), Dallas (Center) or New Jersey (East Coast). Not too sure about the availability of these locations, as the company has just been set up.

Well. Rus has certainly been a veteran in the virtual server hosting space. All the best to his new venture.

RackVM – £3.60 384MB OpenVZ VPS in UK

Via this WHT offer. RackVM is now also offering OpenVZ virtual servers service (also with existing Xen VPS), and is currently having a 40% off discount with promo code RackVM-June. So for £3.60/month (USD ~$5.20) you can get the following virtual server:

  • 384MB guaranteed/768MB burstable memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 250GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers are again located in Kent Science Park Data Centre in UK. Still a pretty young company. Let’s see whether they can build up their reputation as a long lasting provider.

DialAHost – 3.90 GBP 256MB OpenVZ VPS

Tom from DialAHost sent me their new VPS packages starting from 1.95 pound. For 3.90 pound/month (~USD $5.63/month) however, you can get the next level up package (BUDGET-2), which has

  • 256MB memory
  • 40GB storage
  • 400GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Although an UK based company, the VPS are in Scranton PA in the United States (yup, in BurstNet/HostNOC). “Xeon Dual Core 2.13GHz” are used as the host server, although it must have been quite a while since the last non-quad-core-or-more Xeon has been made. Domain has been registered around 7 months ago, with all the NS records on the same box/network (and some weird DNS setup).
