YDGH – $5 512MB OpenVZ VPS

YourDomainGoesHere (YDGH) has released some pretty competitive VPS packages. For $5/month you are getting the following OpenVZ virtual server

  • 512MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1,000GB/month data transfer
  • 2 IP addresses
  • OpenVZ/vePortal

Yeah, before someone yells out Yet Another BurstNET reseller, apparently their servers are with colo4dallas in Dallas TX. You are also getting 30 days money back guarantee and 24x7x365 support as claimed in its company page. Well they might have some experience under their belt if the registrant of the domain was senior sales executive of CI Host, and Corey got a few good reviews on the net.

RapidDuck – 3.99 GBP 384MB OpenVZ VPS

Daniel from RapidDuck about their latest promotional offering. For 3.99 GBP/month you can get their Limited VPS offer with

  • 384MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 5Mbps unmetered bandwidth
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

No word on where the servers are located. Since their website has a HostNOC address I assume they buy their servers from HostNOC/BurstNet in Scranton. A very new service (registered Jun 30 this year) although they were trading under “HostingVillage” before, which was registered last year. I do need to raise the under age alert though — we seem to get a lot of those from UK. And I’m trying very hard not to make any joke about the rubber duckling :)

All the best Daniel with your new startup.

ChilledHost – $5.95 512MB OpenVZ VPS

Via this WHT offer. ChilledHost claims to be part of the “UKWH Group”, which is a UK registered company, although searching for “UKWH” on Google does not yield any meaningful result (except “ukwh.info” that is registered by the same person). Anyway, this new’ish provider is providing some cheap’ish OpenVZ virtual servers, and it is not afraid to say that it is reselling BurstNet’s service. For $5.95/month you get:

  • 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/vePortal

Servers are in Scranton PA. In the WHT post it does try to differentiate itself to BurstNet though (which I think is something that all resellers should do to convince the prospects to buy from them instead of going direct). You get

  • Free SSL and free domain if you pay yearly
  • Free 0845 number to voicemail/faxmail (not heaps useful outside UK I think)
  • Free basic management
  • Free 5GB offsite backup space

Domain is 3 months old and registered to an individual registrant (despite being part of a bigger group).

FullRoot – $3.99 OpenVZ VPS with 256MB

Saw it linked from somewhere. FullRoot‘s ZERO Starter VPS package is on limited-time special. At $3.99/month it gives you

  • 256MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

The testing IP reveals that the servers are with HostNOC/BurstNET in Scranton, although it is not a reseller of BurstNET’s own VPS packages. Domain has been registered since Jan 2008, and on the about us page it says it is part of CENVO — a hosting company registered in India that has been around for a while.

Ostach.net – $5.50 384MB OpenVZ VPS

Adam from Ostach.net emailed me a few days ago about their latest promotion on WHT. Use coupon code 50CENTSOFF to get 50 cents off each month from their special package — to $5.50/month with the following spec:

  • 384MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 5Mbps unmetered bandwidth
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

The servers are located in Kansas City. Exactly the same package as AngiHost as well (and AngiHost is 55 cents/month cheaper), so I assume that it is also in the Oak Tower. Who would be hosting these servers? I have no idea but my guess would be with Joe’s or Wholesale Internet? As the plans are exactly the same, these might be reseller accounts — but who are they reselling?

Ostach itself has only had its domain registered since February this year, with WHOIS protected registrant info (argh!) From the website they also seem to resell BurstNet’s in Scranton, and someone else’s in Orlando (probably DimeNOC).

BuyVM – $5.95 OpenVZ VPS with 512MB

Francisco @ Frantech pointed me out to this WHT offer here. We did profiled Frantech quite a while ago and only until recently they still did not have a proper website. Looks like things are changing. While Frantech.ca has moved to VMWare hosting with higher price virtual servers, they are also branching out a new division, BuyVM, to offer OpenVZ servers on the low end. For $5.95/month you get

  • 512MB memory
  • 50GB storage
  • 2000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

And it is not a BurstNET reseller! The servers are in fact in Fremont CA with HE.net (I’ve got 2 VM there in the same DC and they are great). Good West Coast location for Asia/Australia users.

HostChunk – $6.95 512MB OpenVZ VPS

Via this WHT offer. HostChunk is an Australia-based business that I can’t seem to be able to find business registration on the National Name Index. It does offer VPS from $6.95/momth though. The GobStopper package comes with

  • 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/vePortal

Test IP address points to HostNOC/BurstNet, who have servers in Scranton PA. Yup. Another BurstNet reseller at $1/month dearer than the same plan from BurstNet. Domain registered December 2009. It does have a rather expensive “Abnormal Support Incident” at $70/hour. Maybe that’s all the VPS resellers survive?

DialAHost – 3.90 GBP 256MB OpenVZ VPS

Tom from DialAHost sent me their new VPS packages starting from 1.95 pound. For 3.90 pound/month (~USD $5.63/month) however, you can get the next level up package (BUDGET-2), which has

  • 256MB memory
  • 40GB storage
  • 400GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Although an UK based company, the VPS are in Scranton PA in the United States (yup, in BurstNet/HostNOC). “Xeon Dual Core 2.13GHz” are used as the host server, although it must have been quite a while since the last non-quad-core-or-more Xeon has been made. Domain has been registered around 7 months ago, with all the NS records on the same box/network (and some weird DNS setup).

Up2VPS – $5.99 128MB OpenVZ VPS

It has been quite a while since our last review of Up2vps. They are now almost 7 months old. Offering exactly the same plan. You get

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 6GB storage
  • 300GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

I think the big changed they made since last time was converting HyperVM to SolusVM (like many others in the industry). Their website migrated a lot since last time I visited it, from WebNX to VolumeDrive to BurstNET/HostNOC. They do have the refund of $2/2 hours of downtime though.

ReVPS – $5 256MB OpenVZ VPS

ReVPS, with a domain created merely 6 days ago, has advertised on WHT with its cheap virtual server offerings. Same guy who ran this Chinese hosting operation that has been around since 2006. For $5/month the package includes

  • 256MB memory
  • 15GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ

Server seems to be with BurstNET in Scranton, so I assume they will be using vePortal if ReVPS is indeed reselling BurstNET’s offerings. Note that it also has a 512MB free VPS trail for 10 days — good way to test out the service without forking out anything.

Now, the statement about the company is a bit strange.

ReVPS’s corporate headquarters is located in USA, NY The Puget Sound region is home to numerous influential and high-profile technology firms, which has enabled ReVPS to successfully recruit a wide variety of experienced talent. ReVPS engineering staff operate out of Spry’s HostNOC datacenter.

At the same time the owner’s address says Beijing CN. I also thought Spry has DC in Washington — not New York. Neither is it related to HostNOC, i.e. BurstNET/Nocster in Scranton PA. I live thousands of miles from US and even I know the differences…
