Via this WHT offer. AutomatedVPS is VPS provider that specialized in Hyper-V and Windows 2003/2008 virtual servers. Due to the cost of license this kind of providers do not usually show up on neovps.com, but they are now running a special on WHT with their new data center of unknown location (I am assuming to be in New York City as well), which has a package that fits my listing criteria. So for $5/month you get
- 512MB memory
- 50GB storage NO RAID
- 50GB/month data transfer
- CentOS 5
Quite a bit of restriction to combat fraud, which includes 1 special per client, telephone validation, cell/mobile phone validation with SMS, SMTP port blocked by default & needs explicit permission to unblock, you have to email to order. Any Linux distro other than CentOS might also need to provide URL to ISO for installation. Does not sound “automated” at all.
Interesting offer I guess — I would rather get 1/4 of memory but on instant activation, RAID10 drive, and Linux on Xen by a good provider. But I guess some of you here might be more adventurous

Julie from Czech Republic based NQHost emailed me about their exclusive offer for NEOVPS readers. Using this ordering link here, you can get their “Low Cost VPS” for $6.95/month.
- 256MB memory
- 8GB storage
- Unmetered bandwidth
- Xen
Reason for the promotion is because they have some servers with full disk but free RAM. Servers are in Germany and from their Datacenters page they are in “Falkenstein, Saxony and Frankfurt am Main”. Their website is hosted in Hetzner though. Xen would be PV in this case, and HVM would be a $2 extra (which would be over our $7/month threshold).

Via this WHT offer. Looks like Burst.NET is getting into the UK/EU VPS hosting business. Here is their EU website which looks pretty much identical to their US site. Their UK VPS packages are also more expensive than their US counter part as well so you need to do annual payment to get under the threshold here. For £49.50/year you get
- 512MB memory
- 20GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/vePortal
Burst.NET’s OpenVZ/vePortal product has often been rebranded/resold by new VPS providers (or provider-wannabes). Now they are getting into the UK market are we expecting to see a flood of BurstNET resellers offering VPS there as well? IRC not allowed (client/server/bots). IPv6 available on all products.

Mody from Host90 contacted me about their exclusive offer for the NEOVPS users. Use promo code Lowendbox to get 15% off recurring discount. Their “Baby VPS” becomes $4.24/month after the discount, and it has
- 128MB guaranteed/316MB burstable memory
- 10GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Now you also get to choose from Scranton and Chicago for server location. Server specs are Xeon E5520 with 12GB of memory. They have also updated their website which now looks a bit better than last time — at least without some of the claims. They have also updated their WHOIS info with a valid email address — otherwise you can pretty much take over the entire domain by registering the other expired domain and do the transfer.

Wayne from YourDomainGoesHere (YDGH) emailed me 2 days ago about their exclusive offer to the LowEndBox.com readers. There are two exclusive promo codes. First of all, use LEB10 to get 10% off recurring discount from their already-cheap OpenVZ VPS. Which means you can get their “VPS1″ for $4.50/month which has
- 512MB memory
- 20GB storage
- 1,000GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/vePortal
Their servers are in Dallas. Do also check our previous thread on YDGH and there are some good feedbacks from customers. Hopefully they will be around for the long run.
Now here’s another promo code from YDGH. Use LEB3 to get 3 months free when you pay for a year. The yearly price is $4.50/month and $54/year. However when I applied the promo code I am getting $30 once off discount which brings down the cost to $24 for the first year. Pretty awesome for test driving this low end VPS. Not sure whether it is intentional or a mistake. The promo code issue has now been fixed.

Andrew from 123Systems sent me another exclusive offer for the NEOVPS readers. Here is the direct ordering link. For $8.85/3 months ($2.95/month) you can get the following VPS
- 64MB guaranteed/128MB burstable memory
- 5GB storage
- 250Gb/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
On the ordering page you can also choose between Fremont CA or Chicago IL for data center location. Limited stock & first come first serve. I do appreciate that Andrew wrote to me about the stability of his company (10 technical staffs currently, apparently), although I do not think there is a need to repeat it here. Customers are free to give their own testimonies here.
A 64MB OpenVZ VPS can still do quite a few things with a bit of optimization. We did see the rise of sub-$3 VPS featured here — maybe that will be a new trend?

Via this WHT offer. Recently launched AlienVPS is now offering 10% off recurring discount with promo code abducted10as, which brings down their “UFO 1″ unmanaged VPS package to $6.30/month. It comes with
- 512MB guaranteed/2048MB burstable memory
- 25GB storage
- 1500GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ
Servers are with SecuredServers.com in Phoenix AZ. It was a pretty good package when I first reported it 2 weeks ago, and with the discount it just gets a bit cheaper. I have also taken a look at the ToS page this time, and they are allowing IRC connectivity — possibly both server and client.
I wasn’t that impressed with the rough edges last time, so I decided to investigate a bit more. There appears to be 3 users answering the queries on that WHT post — LM-AndrewS the O.P., jtaM the 17yo co-founder and Mr. Obvious the WHT veteran — all from different locations. LM-AndrewS, the Web Designer/Tech Geek guy here, has a pretty impressive website (actually most websites look impressive comparing to LowEndBox.com
and he has also designed LinuxManaged under his portfolio. Yes, that LinuxManaged which never had its website launched, and somehow was related to BreezeHost later on.
Maybe just another web hosting opera that needs to be uncovered.

Via this WHT offer. CityNetHost looks like the hosting arm of CityNet Telcom in Egypt, so it’s more likely to have telcom/network infrastructure in place. It is currently offering an Xen VPS special at $24/year, which comes with
- 256MB memory
- 10GB storage
- 100GB/month data transfer
- Xen
Servers are in Egypt so it might be a very good location for some of us here (not me though, almost 400ms ping). It looks like they have just branched into selling VPS as the ordering pages are still very dedicated-server-centric. I wonder whether you can really buy a $2/month VPS and hook it up with a 320GB SATA drive at $10/month extra, as it is available in the option.
Having the entire telcom company’s 2 name servers on the same network is indeed a bit strange though.

Mark from GBServers emailed me about their exclusive offers at TheSRV for the Low End Box readers. For $4.95/month using this ordering link, you can get their “pecial” package
- 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
- 25GB storage
- 150GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ
I have actually incorrectly reported their data center location before. Their servers are with Colostore in South Bend IN. GBServers have been around for a while and is a reputable shop from what I have heard (although they are putting two NS on adjacent IP, which is really my personal itch at the moment, arghh). It might also mean VAT if you are from UK though.

Patrick from GarmanOnline emailed me about their VPS service. Via this WHT offer he is also giving 10% recurring discount using promo code 10WHT2010 so $4.50/month for the following package “VPS2″.
- 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
- 5GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ
GarmanOnline is hosted with DimeNOC in Orlando FL. Domain has been onlince since 2008, and all name servers, although appear to be of different hosts, seem to be on the same class C so not much redundancy. Patrick is a “self-taught web designer” showing Mercedes Benz as his past client. Well the portfolio page wasn’t there when I clicked on it yesterday and the link has already been removed.
There is also a cheaper $3.15/month package with 64MB/128MB of memory.
